EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This form of therapy helps people heal from trauma and other distressing life experiences (EMDRIA, 2019). EMDR is designed to help individuals process negative experiences by guiding you with changing how your mind and body respond to stress. Some of what EMDR treatment is useful for includes assistance with:
Improving emotional responses to stress triggers & trauma reminders
Strengthening emotional resilience and health
Sessions for EMDR take approximately 60 minutes. We will work together in helping you shift your thoughts, so that your past memories will be less impairing, and won’t keep you from functioning the way you need to on a day-to-day basis.
As a telehealth provider, I incorporate the use of technology with EMDR practice, making this therapeutic intervention more accessible. Prior to your scheduled appointment, you will receive the information needed for you to be ready for your therapy sessions. You will be carefully guided through this process, and therapy will go at your pace.
Let’s get started on your path to healing.
