Infertility Treatment Evaluations
Trying to conceive can be challenging for many. Infertility treatment has emotional demands that you may not anticipate having to give. To help you and/or your partner better understand the process, I provide a psychosocial assessment that forms the basis in identifying different types of support you may need throughout this journey, and if infertility treatment is an appropriate option for you at this time. Risks and benefits of infertility treatment will be discussed, as well as other important factors which include:
Limitations of infertility treatment
Religious and cultural considerations
The impact of family dynamics
The various aspects of using assisted reproductive technology (ART)
Infertility treatment is a very delicate topic in itself. Along with its procedures, it is important for you to fully be aware of what to expect, and how treatment can impact your mental health with regard to your:
Perception of masculinity and/or femininity
Emotions related to guilt, anger, and shame
Desire to inform or involve family and friends
An evaluation such as this allows for strong coordination of care among your treatment team members, which, in addition to your infertility specialist, may include your OB/GYN, primary care physician, psychiatrist, psychologist, or other health care practitioner. As a behavioral health care provider, my role is to help facilitate the process of you achieving and maintaining a healthy wellbeing as you explore your options of expanding your family, or entering parenthood.
While evaluations are not covered by insurance, payment plans are available for this service. If you are interested in scheduling an appointment, or have been recommended by a physician to have an evaluation, please contact me for more information.
Let me provide support in the first steps of your journey.
